  General information about the publication
   The TIME ZONE (EL TIEMPO ZONA) was the point of the spear of CASA EDITORIAL EL TIEMPO towards a local journalism, more involved with people and their community. It arose more ago than three years like a strategy to arrive at four great sectors of the capital of the country: Suba, Chapinero, Usaquén and Cedritos. It is a product conceived and executed by and for the citizens. In them people shape her histories and those of her district and its locality. It is the means through what they have secured one more a certain approach with the authority. The newspaper has become an ally at the time of exerting oversight citizen towards the local governors. They are those same citizens who integrate the publishing committee of the newspapers - that circulate weekly with EL TIEMPO. In those committees one struggles on the content of the product, on the subjects that define the next edition and the common strategies at the time of approaching a particular problem. It has been, in addition, a seed plot of citizen reporters who have demonstrated their abilities not only to write but to conceive histories that have taken to other platforms, like the television or the page Web. All this thanks, partly, to seminaries these that those same citizens have received on the part of publishers and journalists of EL TIEMPO that help to orient them in the daily task of the office. The TIME ZONE (EL TIEMPO ZONA) has a circulation average of 15 to 20 thousand newspapers by each locality and counts on the endorsement of a general publisher and two journalists by product who support the work of the citizen reporters. The TIME ZONE (EL TIEMPO ZONA) is at the present time reference forced at the time of speaking of local journalism in Colombia.
In eltiempo.com we spent to all the space of the Bogota section for reports of citizen on Thursdays. From the first note, to last, they are subjects written by citizens, as denunciations or reviews. It does not mean that during other days to the week we do not resort either to her when we received interesting articles. Also we took advantage of the work that our Citytv channel carries out to publish in our vestibule videos of citizen reporters.
In additional, all this stories are published on television. One of our journalists all days goes to talk to the citizens and teach them how to make a story for television and become them in a TV reporter. We have been won awards thanks to this work that we do with the community, besides thousand of mail giving thanks to us for our work, because we help always the community to solve their problems. We became in intermediary between the authorities and the community and help them to be listened.
The media involved in this project are Citytv (television), EL TIEMPO ZONA (newspaper) and eltiempo.com (on line).

   This is a project where de citizens are the protagonist, they tell us their stories and problems in their communities and we give them a space to publish them.
  The basic idea of your cross-media local project
   What is the basic idea of your cross-media local project?
It is to allocate our media in the world tendencies. Being faced by globalization in economy and politics, media users tend to prefer more and more news of their close environment.
What was the purpose of implementing this?
To enrich the local focus of our media that lead in the information section in a city level.
Which audience segments did/do you want to target?
The audience of all neighborhoods and districts that make Colombia’s capital.
Do you intend to attract new customer segments or is it more a tool to retain existing customers?
Both. On one hand, our clients from the cities want and recognize our job, in the other there is still a huge audience capacity to which we want to attract our media

  The implementation
   Since when do you implement your cross-media local project?
ZONA TIME (EL TIEMPO ZONA) newspapers more than three years ago, Citytv, television one year ago and on line, eltiempo.com, since December 2009.
Which department(s) is the driver of setting it up?
The principal driver now is television Citytv and newspaper EL TIEMPO ZONA (TIME ZONA) both provides information to eltiempo.com all the time.
How do you use and connect the different media channels?
We have a meeting all the time to know which are the stories we have and try to make them possible for print newspaper and television. For example, we go to a neighborhood and there we can go a TV camera and make the stories with the community for television and then wirte it for newspaper and then publish it on Internet. Making possible to become in a multimedia channel giving to the stories the possibility to be read or watching for more people all the time.
Is it consistent across all channels?
Why?
It is consistent and we get feedback. For example, if a user wants to connect online and our journalist connects with him, he will be connected with our TV and our printed news.

  Results of the local project implementation
   How successful is your local project? Please describe
Highly successful. it has been so successful that not only are we being bombarded in our online addresses and phones daily with ideas, complaints and information, but our public administration has accepted to address every day every requirement we have as a middleman with the citizenship. As a matter of fact, every day problems stated by our users are being solved.
Number of subscriptions increase, growth in feedback and page views.
In newspaper we started with one print edition now we have 4. In television we used to make one stories per day now we publish 3 per day and soon we will make a tv program only about citizens reporters. On Internet we publish all Thursdays at first we received 1 video or 1 photo per week, a year ago, now we receive between near by 40 videos or photos per day and we publish others days when we have good stories on line.
