  The basic idea of your cross-media local project
   THE BASIC IDEA:
In 2007, Večernji list started with the regionalization project. The main goal was to develop strong regional editions throughout Croatia and at the same time, to move the production of regional pages to regional centers, i.e. to remove the production from Zagreb, which is the capital, but also the city where Večernji list comes from.
Besides Zagreb, regional pages are produced in Koprivnica, Varaždin, Krapina, Karlovac, Sisak, Osijek and in edition for Bosna & Hercegovina. In regional centers we produce pages with regional content, and these pages are
mutated, so that besides regional pages, we daily change the front and the last page too.
2. THE PURPOSE - Reasons for localization
After regionalization, our readers showed interest for more local content, i.e. a reader from a certain region wants to read local information about his/her town. By shifting to localization, Večernji list, the leader in regionalization process, goes even deeper into coverage of local content because
•There is a great potential in the segment of local content, especially in towns which do not have their own local daily newspapers
•Localization is a good means for stabilization of sold circulation figures and for maintaining the position of the market leader in the HRK 7,00 segment
•There is a huge growth potential in the Advertising sector
•Many towns of Central Croatia do not have their own local newspaper.

   1. PRINT - Local editions – details
Local edition for Varaždin:
One or two local content pages of regional edition are mutated only for the Varaždin town. Regional edition is distributed in other towns of region, and the Varaždin town gets the edition with two pages of regional content and two pages of local content. Advertisers can pay for ads within local or regional edition. After only one month, the sold circulation of this edition increased by 2%.
Local edition for Koprivnica:
Among pages of regional edition, one page is mutated only for the Koprivnica town, and the content of other three pages covers the whole region. In only a month, the sold circulation has increased by 10%.
Local edition for Samobor:
Among regular town pages for Zagreb, there are now local pages for Samobor. Samobor is a town 20 kilometers away from Zagreb Every day, within Zagreb related pages, one page is mutated for Samobor. Reactions of readers are great, and in only a month, the sold circulation figures have risen.
Local edition for Velika Gorica:
One out of four (4) pages with the Zagreb content is now mutated for Velika Gorica. Velika Gorica is the town near Zagreb. In the last 20 years this town has grown so much that it became the 7th biggest town in Croatia. However, this area has always been treated as part of the Zagreb city. Despite that, in only a month, sold circulation figures of Večernji list for Velika Gorica have increased.
2. SUBSCRIPTIONS/PAGEVIEWS
2009 subscription vs 2010 subscription: significant increase in number of subscribers due to impact of localisation too
pageviews increase of 10%
