An interactive SMS and Online entry driven competition was concived and run in conjunction with Adidas to involve reader participation with our sports pages, the contest also aimed to get an exhaustive profile of our readers as a direct marketing tool for the paper and advertisers.
Prizes worth US$ 500.00 plus were given away daily in cash and official FIFA merchandise, plus one winner was given two free air tickets to see the finals in Germany.
The promotion was a resounding success with a total of 6,147 entries with readers aged between 11 to 66 years from 27 different nationalities participating and generating 41 winners.
Copies of the paper were also distributed free to venues showing the matches to increase exposure and affinity. |
