9th Annual Asia Media Awards 2010

The award presentations will be held in-conjuction with Publish Asia 2010 on 4 August 2010.

Asia Media Awards competition which, over the last eight years, has grown to become the most prestigious recognition of outstanding work in the fields of Printing Quality, Design, Infographics, Photography and Online among media houses in Asia Pacific, South Asia and Middle East.

The competition is opens to all newspapers and magazines in Asia Pacific, South Asia and the Middle East. Asia Media Awards is held in conjunction with Publish Asia Conference & Expo 2010 from 3 - 5 August, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Award Categories

1. Best in Print Award
Participants in the International Newspaper Color Quality Club (INCQC) competition from Asia Pacific, South Pacific and Middle East will benefit two folds. This means they will automatically also participate in the competition for the “Best in Print Award” and stand two chances to be awarded.

2. Best in Design Award

Newspaper and Magazine Overall Design
This award will be presented to entries whose overall design, originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving of recognition. Entries will be judged not only on design but on how design is used to project the contents. This includes the use of typography, photography, information graphics and colour.

Newspaper Front Page Design and Magazine Cover Design
This award will be presented to entries that achieve a powerful impact on the newspaper front page or magazine cover page. The judges will be looking for pages clearly showing a brilliant treatment of a scoop or unique take on a breaking or feature story, incorporated with captivating headline, creative design style and best use of photographs.

3. Best in Special Coverage Award
This award recognizes newspaper’s special sections / magazine’s special issues that demonstrate high standards of content, originality to explore a topic or issue of significance, overall design and photography.

4. Best in Infographics Award
This award aims to recognise excellence in design, usefulness and clarity of information conveyed in both breaking news and non-breaking news in newspaper and magazine infographics.

5. Best in Photojournalism Award
The award will recognise the photographer’s visual creativity (originality of perception and treatment), the ability to expand knowledge or understanding of an issue through an effective use of the medium and technical skills.

Asia Digital Media Awards 2010 - coming soon

The Best in Online Media & Best in Cross Media Awards categories, which formerly were part of the Asia Media Awards will integrate in 2010 the newly launched Asia Digital Media awards which will be held in-conjunction with the 2nd annual Digital Media Asia 2010 from 24 – 26 November 2010. Announcement of the entry registration will be made on 1 July 2010. Please check the website at www.wan-ifra.org/adma for latest updates.

Recognition of Excellence

All award winners will be granted the exclusive usage of a special icon illustrative of their achievement and representating – for each category – the gold, silver and bronze awards. They will be entitled to display this distinctive WAN-IFRA recognition of excellence in their publication as well as in all their corporate communications or marketing materials
