This workshop endeavours to show the latest trends in press and pre-press. Opinion-formers and decision-makers willing to keep abreast of the latest developments in press and prepress will discuss powerful printing solutions to improve returns on investment, how to reduce costs and create sustainability and increase print quality to industry. It will also show how some of these assets can be exploited to open up new revenue streams.

Participants will work through 6 sessions of 45-minutes each in small groups, to learn what exhibiting companies can offer to them.

Target group:
Prepress specialists, production and printing plant managers as well as all persons responsible for printing quality. Also, those involved in news publishing and magazine printing who wish to improve their technical skills, discover new systems and address all questions regarding printing production.

You cannot miss it!

Exhibitors:

ABB

ABB is a leading automation supplier to the
newspaper industry. Their completely integrated workflow and press automation systems are available for new presses and also as retrofit solutions for existing presses. They provide end-to-end control over the entire newspaper production process and provide management information essential to improving profitability.

At the WAN-IFRA Ibérica system workshop ABB will be showing not only how their prepress and press management systems can improve performance and reduce cost, but will also show that the benefits of these systems are greatly increased through the integration of these systems. It is the integration of these systems that gives the production manager the greatest possibilities to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

EAE

EAE will show workflow and control solutions for efficient and highly automated production processes at newspaper printing plants and publishing houses (both MES, Manufacture Execution Systems as well as MIS, Manufacture Information Systems). These include both control and automation solutions, e.g. press presetting and information/reporting systems, and integration of subsystems into the production workflow. EAE says that besides the classical solutions for newsroom, pressroom and mailroom, they will market-launch the new "EAE Loop" product as an IFRA First. This product is used to automatically control ink density in the production run. Another solution, i.e. "softproof", has been adapted to market requirements. In order ensure a reliable colour display on the monitor, EAE applies a method whereby the intensity of the control desk illumination is matched to the brightness of the monitor.Other highlights: Press Retrofit: EAE will show the potentials of an efficient and economic modernisation of older machines, combined with a high level of production safety and modern control equipment. – V.I.P.: a job planning solution to optimise the resources of printing houses (personnel and equipment) at multiple divisions and printing sites.

GMG

GMG will be showing InkOptimizer which stabilizes and optimizes the entire
printing process. The color composition of images, complete pages or printing forms is standardized, and the black component increased. At the same time,
the visual color impression remains unchanged. This not only leads to ink savings of up to 20%, but also makes it much easier to set the press to the correct color result (e.g. a proof). This is due to the fact that the ink optimization function intervenes exactly where the human eye reacts most sensitively – in the gray balance. The stabilized gray balance achieves more consistent color behavior in the neutral areas and in the tertiary colors, such as brown and olive shades. In addition, the contrast and image definition in the shadows are also improved. Smaller color variations during printing lead to more stable production printing, and thus to higher quality.  Ink reduction also boosts productivity. The lower level of ink application reduces the risk of offsetting, the drying time is shorter, it takes less time to get the right colors on the press, the overall production time is reduced, and paper waste is avoided. These factors ultimately result in cost savings and more sustainable print production.

OneVision

OneVision Software solutions deliver automated efficiency to companies in the publishing and printing industry. Our software ensures quality, saves time and reduces costs in premedia production. Focusing on process automation and resource optimization, OneVision’s portfolio comprises solutions for the automation of control, correction and normalization of files, ink saving, image enhancement, ePaper creation and file logistics.

At the WAN-IFRA Ibérica System Workshop, OneVision will give an in-depth demonstration of its wide array of well-established prepress solutions.

File Normalization, Optimization and Correction: Asura and Asura Pro verify content, repair common problems and convert data to specifications into a secure print file. Solvero enables comprehensive last minute editing of text, images and graphics in virtually any file format, including PDF, EPS, PostScript and XPS.

Color Management and Image Optimization: OneVision’s Ink Save solution automatically optimizes and reduces the amount of costly CMY ink required by maximizing the amount of black ink - without affecting image quality or appearance. Our automated image enhancement solution Amendo significantly reduces processing time by automatically adjusting color and tone, brightness and contrasts, shadows and highlights of images.

File Logistics and Management: OneVision’s Voyager automates the pre-press and pre-media workflow via secure 24/7 file transfer.
