| Facility and Training Programme 2006 | ||||||||
| IfraNewsplex arrived in Europe! With IfraNewsplex running for over two successful years in the United States and attracting so many European publishers, it's no surprise that building a European training and conferencing unit was decided. Unlike the facility in the USA, IfraNewsplex Europe is not designed as a prototypical newsroom environment. Rather, Ifra has created an extremely advanced convergence training environment suitable not just for editorial teams but also for advertising staff. The programme offerings at IfraNewsplex Europe are being tailored to work closely with the very practical NewsDesk and AdDesk organisational change projects Ifra has developed specifically to implement a cross-media, cross-format structure at a typical European media house. Slide Show
Training Programme At Newsplex, training participants learn by doing, by experiencing what it is like to be a multi-skilled journalist, manager or executive, or advertising executive. The formats for the trainings are interactive presentations, hands-on workshops and groupwork designed to build skills competencies and strategies to apply at the participants’ companies. > more |

| Creating a multi-functional seminar room | ||||||||
| Our focus in the first quarter of 2005 was on planning the new seminar room on the second floor. The objective was to convert the existing room into a multi-functional room equipped with the latest technology. After completion, the room will be used for training courses, Newsplex Scenario Training events, Workshops, meetings, etc. In view of the complexity of the building project, we decided to do the entire planning in-house. Technical equipment The focal point of the seminar room is a 2 m projection screen that works with back projection. This is complemented by two mobile plasma monitors that can be positioned at will in the room and permit every conceivable training constellation. The main item of equipment is a cross bar with 16 inputs and outputs that allows variable switching of any sources to different output devices. The input devices can be used for, among other units, video recorders, TV, PC or cameras. As stated above, these can be output optionally to the back projection or the plasmas. All technical equipment is controlled via a touch panel, but can alternatively be web browser-controlled from any PC. The PCs are wirelessly networked; however, for back-up reasons, a cable network is also provided. Outfitting The room features a futuristic design. Illumination is provided by suspended lighting, allowing both direct and indirect lighting and with integrated acoustic fittings. The floor is covered by a new type of plate that, by using photo techniques, produces a three-dimensional effect. As additional light protection, transluscent blinds optically emphasise the high-tech room facilities. The modular furniture system was assembled in such a way that all requirements in relation to flexibility are satisfied – and can be stowed away in a space-saving manner if need be. Construction work has been finished in early July. The official opening is scheduled for 13 September 2005 at Ifra's headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany (see above).
