![]() Tomorrow’s newsroom must be different from today’s to take advantage of new technologies, to make the best use of new journalists, to support new publishing businesses and to serve the new Information Society. The Ifra Newsplex® at the University of South Carolina advanced micro-newsroom training and research facility will support Ifra members and the international news industry at large in undertaking these changes, helping them to understand and master innovative storytelling and news presentation techniques emerging from the convergence of print, broadcast and online media. The Newsplex® will be used to educate a new generation of multi-skilled and multiple-media-minded journalists, to expand the careers of professional news managers and their staffs around the world, and to evaluate the technologies and methods with which 21st Century news organisations will work. The US$ 1.5 million facility was developed in cooperation with the University of South Carolina, Columbia, USA, and with support from many of the world’s leading publishers, publishing technology developers, and journalism training institutes.
