Indian Coldset Offset Newspaper Standardisation (ICONS)
IFRA has lauched on March 2004 a new project titled ICONS, involving a group of nine Indian newspapers - ABP, Deccan Herald, Hindustan Times, Lokmat, Malayala Manorama, Mathrubhumi, Mid Day, The Hindu and The Times of India. The objective of the project is to create a common printing profile based on ISO 12647-3 standards that will be THE STANDARD for reproduction and printing process across these newspapers.
Boon to ad agencies and advertisers
Gone will be days with different advertisement materials for different publications and the restless expectation on good quality reproduction. As a result of this standardisation project, an advertiser can supply same set of ad materials and can expect excellent reproduction results. This will lead to decrease in prepress costs for the advertisers and improved quality in newspapers. This common printing profile is now introduced to advertising agencies and newspaper advertisers, to transform it to practical usage in the advertising agencies.
