  Project name
Interaction - how the Sindelfinger Zeitung/Böblinger Zeitung involves the Facebook-Community in the editorial process

  General Publication Info
The Sindelfinger Zeitung/Böblinger Zeitung is a local daily newspaper with 12 000 copys. We cover with 12 editors all events in our county, especially in the two citys Sindelfingen an Böblingen. We get the national and international content from the Stuttgarter Nachrichten. We use social media very intensive, especially Facebook.

  Implementation
We use Facebook to find topics and content such as pictures or eye-witness-reports. We transfer the Facebook-comments into storys, we ask our community for their opinion and we use it for articles. The links to these are afterwards posted in Facebook and the articles can be red in our free e-paper.

  Project results
The community uses the possibility of participation very often. There are a lot of topics, which are discussed very intensive on Facebook and which are shared.
The community grows continous minimum 1 percent every week. Since 2 years the Sindelfinger Zeitung/Böblinger Zeitung is the most sucessfull german newspaper in Facebook in the proportion of subscribers to Facebook-Friends. This is the result of biannual studys of the Drehscheibe, a service for german newspapers. You find it here http://www.drehscheibe.org/facebook-ranking-deutscher-tageszeitungen-september-2011.html
The aim is, to make our brand more popular, to increase the coverage and get in touch with especially young people, who are not used to read a newspaper. Our community fulfills our expectations. Most of our Facebook-friends are aged beweed 18 and 45 years. We know, that the most of our new subscribers are aged over 45 years. So we closed a important gap with Facebook. In addition we have been very sucessfull in 2011 with the sale by retail. We improved almost 5 percent, while the newspaper industry in germany lost over 4 percent. We think, the posts on Facebook are very important for this success.
