SLS3000 with Press-To-Pocket System Commissioned
IFRA publication date:
11/09/2006
A new SLS3000 inserting system from Muller Martini was installed this summer at Druckhaus Oberhavel GmbH in Oranienburg, Germany. As one of the first users in the world, Druckhaus Oberhavel is relying on the new Press-to-Pocket (PTP) system from the Swiss mailroom specialists.
Druckhaus Oberhavel GmbH is under the umbrella of the publishing group owned by Dr. Dirk Ippen. Ippen has numerous regionally distributed daily newspapers in Germany, which, with a total circulation of more than a million copies sold, represent the fifth largest newspaper group in Germany. In Oranienburg, about 30 kilometers north of Berlin, the company produces the regional Oranienburger Generalanzeiger newspaper, with Ruppiner advertising paper and Gransee newspaper, at a circulation run of about 37,000 copies per day. In addition, about 1.5 million advertising newspapers are also printed and supplied with inserts each week.
New Press-To-Pocket System
With the innovative SLS3000 inserting system, Druckhaus Oberhavel has once again chosen Muller Martini for the replacement of two older Biliner inserting systems. The new system is equipped with ten feeders, press-to-pocket loading (PTP), three PrintStack CN-80 compensating stackers, film-wrapping and cross strapping.
As one of the first newspaper producers in the world to do so, Druckhaus Oberhavel is using the new Press-to-Pocket system from Muller Martini. A NewsGrip-A gripper conveyor simultaneously moves the papers from the printing press to the delivery station. From here, the products then enter the feeder of the SLS3000 inserting system directly in a single stream, via infeed belts.
MIRS for Complete Products
SLS3000 is a fast and secure inserting system that optimizes work with tight production time windows. It is equipped with a comprehensive control system that monitors all processes of the inserting production and the successive bundle formation systems.
In order for only complete products to be delivered, the SLS3000 inserting system is also equipped with the Missed Insert Repair System (MIRS). Missing inserts and unopened main products are recognized and completed in a second pass.
With the new SLS3000 inserting system, Druckhaus Oberhavel has increased its inserting capacity, further improved product quality and optimized its possibilities for responding quickly and flexibly to the needs of the market.
